The Angelus and the Regina Caeli
The Incarnation remembered in the morning, at noon and in the evening. The booklet gives three forms: the Angelus in Ordinary Time, a Lenten salutation, and the Regina Caeli in the Easter season.
The Angelus (Ordinary Time)
℣. The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary, ℟. and she conceived of the Holy Spirit. Hail Mary…
℣. Behold the handmaid of the Lord. ℟. Be it done unto me according to your word. Hail Mary…
℣. And the Word was made flesh, ℟. and dwelt among us. Hail Mary…
℣. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God, ℟. that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray. Pour forth, we beseech You, O Lord, Your grace into our hearts, that we, to whom the Incarnation of Christ, Your Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
Glory Be…
The Lenten salutation
℣. God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, ℟. that the world might be saved through Him. (John 3:16–17) Hail Mary…
℣. Christ humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, ℟. even death on a cross. (Philippians 2:8) Hail Mary…
℣. He was wounded for our sins and crushed for our offences; ℟. by His wounds we have been healed. (Isaiah 53:5) Hail Mary…
℣. We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You, ℟. because by Your holy Cross You have redeemed the world.
Let us pray. Father of mercy, by Your Son’s death and resurrection You have forgiven our sins and freed us from the slavery of evil. Enable us by Your grace to deny ourselves, to live the life of Your Spirit and to be filled with His love. By the Passion of Your Son, may the Kingdom break into our lives and transform them by the power of the Cross. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
℣. Eternal rest grant unto the souls of the faithful departed, O Lord, ℟. and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.
The Regina Caeli (Easter season)
℣. Queen of heaven, rejoice, alleluia! ℟. For He whom you did merit to bear, alleluia, ℣. has risen as He said, alleluia! ℟. Pray for us to God, alleluia!
℣. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia! ℟. For the Lord is truly risen, alleluia!
Let us pray. O God, who gave joy to the world through the resurrection of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant, we beseech You, that through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, His Mother, we may obtain the joys of everlasting life, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
Glory Be… (three times)
