The prayers of the Chaplet
The Sign of the Cross
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Come, Holy Spirit
Come, Holy Spirit, enlighten our minds. Come, inflame our hearts with the fire of Your love.
Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created,
Tananand You shall renew the face of the earth.
Opening prayer
Let us pray. O Holy Spirit, our light, our strength and our guide in following the teachings of Jesus Christ, activate the faith that we received in Baptism and which was reaffirmed in Confirmation, when You came to dwell in us with Your sevenfold gifts of wisdom, understanding, knowledge, counsel, fortitude, piety and fear of the Lord.
Rouse up these gifts in our minds and hearts, so that we may always walk along the road of holiness and justice all the days of our lives, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Glory Be
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
TananAs it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
The Our Father
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
TananGive us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
1. Wisdom
O Spirit of Wisdom, direct our thoughts, words and actions.
TananFather, send us the promised Paraclete through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
2. Understanding
O Spirit of Understanding, make us understand God’s will made known to us in the events of our daily life.
TananFather, send us the promised Paraclete through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
3. Knowledge
O Spirit of Knowledge, give us the knowledge that will lead us to salvation.
TananFather, send us the promised Paraclete through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
4. Counsel
O Spirit of Counsel, make us see the light amidst the darkness of our troubles and difficulties.
TananFather, send us the promised Paraclete through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
5. Fortitude
O Spirit of Fortitude, give us the courage to follow the will of God always.
TananFather, send us the promised Paraclete through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
6. Piety
O Spirit of Piety, inflame our hearts with love of God and neighbour, and of everything that comes from God.
TananFather, send us the promised Paraclete through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
7. Fear of the Lord
O Spirit of Holy Fear of the Lord, give us a lively fear of sin, so that we may always remain in God’s grace.
TananFather, send us the promised Paraclete through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Send forth Your Spirit
Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created,
Tananand You shall renew the face of the earth.
Closing prayer
Let us pray. O God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit instructed the hearts of Your faithful, grant that by the same Spirit we may be truly wise and ever rejoice in His consolation, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
O Lord, open my lips, and my tongue shall announce Your praise. Incline unto my aid, O God. O Lord, make haste to help me. Lord, help us with the things we need, not the things we want.
Act of Thanksgiving and Consecration to the Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit, Divine Consoler, I adore You as my true God. I bless You and unite with all the angels and saints in praising You. I offer You my whole heart, and I render You sincere thanks for all the benefits You have bestowed and continue to bestow upon the whole world.
I wish to praise You and thank You especially on behalf of all those Christians who, through neglect, ignorance or thoughtlessness, never render You any special homage. You who are the author of all supernatural gifts, and who enriched with immense favours the soul of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, I beseech You to visit me by Your grace and Your love, and to grant me Your sevenfold gifts, in order that I may, with constant love and perseverance, walk in the way to eternal salvation. Amen.
